So, this weekend i went to The Clothes Show Live at the NEC in Birmingham. I have been every year for 8 years now, and up until now the Catwalk itself has got better and better every year. Amazing dancers and live music, props and models all working together in perfect harmony. Each year with a specific theme to the show. As each year all concentration seems to be on the production itself, the shopping experience seems to worsen as the years go on, with less shops each time with less quality items. Much cheaper materials and garments, tacky almost. However that could be overlooked as I've always been so in awe of the show i just watched. Although, this year was a different story, the show was sloppy. If someone told me the models and dancers only started rehearsing last week i would not be at all surprised. I understand models have to wear uncomfortable shoes and outfits etc, but how hard can it be to walk on the beat and in time with the model next to you? I won't name names, but the celebrity presenter was a shambles. The first time i have ever witnessed a clothes show presenter holding a script in his hand, he was sweating buckets and stammering over his words. It was evident the whole audience was sharing the same uncomfortable vibe. The shopping was worse than ever, usually me and my mom come home with at least 3-4 bags of purchases each, wether they be beauty or fashion items. However this year i came home with a big fat nothing and my mom left with a scarf she purchased as a secret santa present for a colleague. I feel that the Clothes Show hit Rock Bottom this year, although there may be a reason for this. It has been announced that The Clothes Show is moving from Birmingham's NEC for the first time ever, to Liverpool. So maybe they are saving their pennies for the big reveal, and wanted to keep this year minimal to hold out for the main event next year? All i can say is I'm glad i didn't pay full price for our tickets, i don't even think our experience was worth the £15 each we payed. I will have to have a good think wether i will be travelling to Liverpool for round 2.
