MOVING TO NOTTS

From birth to the age of 16 i lived in Birmingham, the second city. However once secondary school finished, me and my family moved to Harvington. A small village on the outskirts of Evesham about half an hour out of Birmingham in Worcestershire's most rural countryside. When i say small, i mean SMALL. It has 1 shop and a pub, not even a fish and chip shop! When i first moved there i couldn't drive and had to rely on public transport which consisted of 1 single service, a single decker bus running every hour (more like every 3 hours if you were lucky) which was £7 for a return ticket either to evesham or Stratford Upon Avon. Two small towns with the nearest train stations which could take me back to Birmingham.

Due to my music and fashion interests i was something of a shock to everyone in this tiny village, with my lilac hair at the time and clothing which didn't conform to their country bumpkin style. I didn't think myself to be particularly 'different' before i moved there. So i became almost an outcast with no friends in the area, 'you can take the girl out of Birmingham buy you can't take Birmingham out of the girl'. So moving back to a city has been a relief for me, don't get me wrong i loved my new house in Evesham. But being able to walk down the road in Nottingham without being stared at like i have something written on my head is quite nice and theres something quite familiar about it, a sense of fitting in. Its very similar to Birmingham in some aspects, and so nice to be back in a city. One that seems to be full of young people and copious amounts of restaurants and things to do. The lace Market seems like Nottinghams Digbeth to me, which is my favourite place in Birmingham; full of street art and graffiti, vintage stores and a big rave (house and dnb music) scene. I can see myself spending a lot of my time student loan in the vintage shops around the Lace market for this reason. Alike digbeth its Full of art, character and quirkiness. I wish i could say the same about my accommodation.
