TRAINERS+DRESSES

The i came to university, i came with 6 pairs of heels. All the heels i own, thinking that all my night out would consist of dresses and heels and a full face of makeup. A new city and night scene i had never visited before. I came prepared for every situation, however i soon came to realise that my heels would not be needed and i have not yet worn them. Nottingham nightlife i would say is about 80% smart casual, girls aren't required to wear heels to gain entry into a nightclub. I think this is probably because of the vast amount of students coming from both Nottingham Trent and City. Flats are a safe option: boots forever popular but 'dolly shoes' have been rapidly going out of fashion for some time now. Trainers seem to be becoming an even safer option, and even more acceptable to. However just because you don't require heels it doesn't mean you can't glam up with a dress or glam top and skirt. So i would just like to say that it is not a crime. You CAN wear a dress with trainers, who said we can't in the first place? Ofcourse within reason, not a pair of Nike Windrunner neon yellow mesh tennis trainers with a bring pink tick and glow in the dark green laces. Opt for a flat round fronted more feminine trainer, like a pair of adidas originals or Stan Smiths. If that feels a little too casual then a step down would be a simple pair of black or white pumps/plimsolls like Converse or Vans. Teamed with a saucy pair of glittery or socks if your feeling adventurous or fishnet pop socks for a more grungy feel. This may seem obvious to you students reading this, but for the girls out there stressing about what to wear on your feet this weekend i hope this helped. Dress codes have loopholes.
